Free printable beginning sounds worksheets
Each sheet shows one beginning sound and a set of pictures. Children name each picture, listen for the first sound, and circle or colour the ones that match.
This is a listening activity, not a letter search and not a CVC spelling sheet. Easy shows word labels under the pictures. Hard hides the labels so the child has to name what they see. Colour pictures use reviewed local SVGs where available, with clear icon fallbacks.

A beginning-sounds generator with a local picture bank of familiar objects. Each sheet picks a target consonant, matching pictures and distractors, then shuffles the grid. The public letter list is the sounds the bank can actually support — not a claim of full A–Z coverage.

How to Use
- Choose Easy, Medium or Hard, and pick a beginning sound or leave Random.
- Set how many A4 pages to print (1–10). Random mode cycles through eligible sounds before repeating.
- Choose Colour pictures or Simple icons, then click New Sheet.
- Optional: type the child’s name and the date in the sheet header.
- Print the worksheet. Ask your child to say each picture name aloud, then circle the ones that start with the big sound.
Print tip: Each page is a full A4 worksheet at the same size — extra pages are never shrunk to fit. Colour mode uses reviewed SVGs when available; Simple icons stay ink-friendly. Answers are never printed on the sheet.
